Pharmacist Giving Patient Care

FAQ

1. What about patient information security (HIPAA)?
The PAS System maintains no identifiable patient information and poses no HIPAA patient data security issues.

The bar coded Rx number is stored in our system, but nothing identifying individual patient information can be determined by that Rx number.

Our system tracks and records the following information, as required by the FDA  for automated systems:
  • Who dispenses the medication
  • What medication was dispensed
  • What dosage was dispensed
  • The quantity dispensed
  • The date and time it was dispensed
  • The lot number
  • The expiration date
2. What is the dispensing time?
The PAS D-60 can dispense medications at 240+ dry meds per minute.  It normally takes only seconds to actually rotate to the correct medication and dispense the dry medications.
3. How long is the installation?
Generally, installation and training are accomplished in 1 to 3 hours.
4. Will my Pharmacy Management System be compatible with the PAS System?
Yes, your new Pharmacy Automation System is compatible because it does not interface with your software system.   It is a stand-alone system.  It accepts all input from your standard printed Rx barcode and stores the captured data in a standard spreadsheet format.

Consequently, it is required that your pharmacy’s computer system have the capability to generate an Rx barcode to scan.  This barcode passes us the required information to dispense medication

5. What is the time frame for delivery after my order is placed?
Typically systems are shipped within three (3) to eight (8) weeks after receipt of order.
6. Can Service Plans be purchased?
Yes. The first year of service is included in the price of the system. An additional worry-free service plan is available for the following 4 years and beyond.
7. Can more than one PAS model be used in a single location?
Yes. In fact, multiple cabinets can be utilized for even greater efficiency and inventory control.  Each machine can be operated individually – allowing more than one pharmacist or technician to dispense simultaneously – further increasing your pharmacy’s output.
